“The Bible was written long before scientists knew anything about the Earth, and modern scholars know that Genesis is a story meant to convey spiritual principles. The whole evolution thing; it’s not a salvation issue.”

I hear statements like that frequently; enough to warrant me addressing the issue squarely.

Bottom line up front: The theory of evolution (along with the multibillion-year age of the Earth, and the principle of biogenesis – that life arose from non-life) is a lie.

They’re all lies.

Please don’t lose sight of the fact that naturalistic explanations rule out the Bible, thereby removing God and Jesus Christ from contemplation. I’ll clear that up in a moment. Rest assured, though, that an effect of naturalistic explanations is this: As long as Charles Darwin is around to voice his opinion, there’s no reason to rely on God or Jesus Christ.

One exceptionally successful and devious tactic of Satan is to get people to question God. Start with that, and then hand those people a shiny-looking idea in opposition to what God said. It worked in the Garden of Eden. Read it for yourself at Genesis 3:1-6. Note the tactic: The first thing Satan said was a statement intended to get Eve to question what God had said, and then Satan gave both she and Adam the outright lie.

First came the questioning of what God had said, and then came the lie to replace what God had said. I’m hitting this hard – repeating myself – because the tactic has to be illuminated and understood. Satan wants you to question God. Then, once you question God, Satan will give you something else to believe instead.

Let me add, quickly, that having questions about God, Jesus, the Bible, and so on, are normal for the Christian. That’s a normative experience. However, we do not turn to the world, nor the great liar, for answers! We look to God. When you have questions, turn to the Bible for answers. The old saying goes something like, “A little Bible study will make you question your faith. But, a lot of Bible study will confirm it.”

Back to the matter at hand: The question Satan has foisted upon humanity this time is ‘Did God really create everything?’ The lies to replace the literal & historic account of creation found in Genesis are the naturalistic explanations for origins.

Satan asks us, ‘Did God really create everything?’ Then he offers to us, ‘God didn’t create everything, and the Bible isn’t true. The fabric of space-time, and everything in it, is explained perfectly by naturalism.’

The naturalistic explanations are the whispers of Satan, intended to destroy the idea that God’s Word, the Bible, is true. The point of the theory of evolution was never about the science (which is terrible, by the way). It exists as a wedge between God and His creation, and the ultimate point of evolution is the destruction of the Gospel.

The ultimate point of the theory of evolution is the destruction of the Gospel.

Is this ad hoc? Am I the liar, now? Am I making it up? Is there anything to what I’m saying other than me just writing it down?

Well… Here’s a quote from an article by G. Richard Bozarth that was first published in the American Atheist magazine nearly fifty years ago:

“Even a high school student knows enough about evolution to know that nowhere in the evolutionary description of our origins does there appear an Adam or an Eve or an Eden or a forbidden fruit.”

Even a high school student? I would take it further and say that this is especially true of high school students in 2023, given the continuous bombardment they receive from our education system. I realize that’s a powerful accusation, and I’ll come back to it in another post. For now, here’s a little more from Bozarth:

“Christianity has fought, still fights, and will continue to fight science to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus’ earthly life was supposedly made necessary.”

He added,

“Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the sorry remains of the Son of God.”

And,

“If Jesus was not the redeemer who died for our sins, and this is what evolution means, then Christianity is nothing.” (Emphasis added).

Bozarth understood fully what the the theory of evolution does to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It blots out the Gospel with ponderous smears of ink from the pens of people as disparate as the atheist who despises Christ and the Christian who claims Christ yet supports evolution. Whether one is outside of the church throwing dung at it, or inside the church serving that dung as cookies, evolution is meant to dissolve faith, or to make it utterly unappealing.

I’ll conclude Bozarth’s work with his summation of what evolution does to the Gospel:

“Without the original sin, who needs to be redeemed? Without Adam’s fall into a life of constant sin terminated by death, what purpose is there to Christianity? None.”

Folks, this is the price we pay every time we allow the theory of evolution to hang in the air without offering the alternative, which is the truth of God’s Word. That’s our part, people. It’s our mission field. We stand among millions of students, and former students, who’ve been indoctrinated into the lie of evolution, and who have, at the same time, been taught to view those of us who stand up for the truth of Genesis as looneys in tinfoil hats.

Their search engine is a powerful tool to find information on almost anything related to the lies of evolution and the truth of the Bible’s account of creation, the flood, and the dispersion from Babel – all necessary to understand our world today.

Let me be bold enough to plead that it’s not enough, anymore, to just say that we don’t believe in evolution. We have to address it as it is: A slanderous lie.

When Bozarth said, “Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the sorry remains of the Son of God.” I’m not sure he was 100% correct. It may be more correct to say that once Adam & Eve have been destroyed in the mind of the student, those students aren’t even going to look through the rubble in search of the Son of God. Why bother? What’s the point?

Folks, this is the price we pay every time we allow the theory of evolution to hang in the air without offering the alternative, which is the truth of God’s Word. That’s our part, people. It’s our mission field.

Do the work, friends. Read the articles. Buy and study the books. And, when the lies of the evolution come from any source in your hearing, stand up to them by speaking the Word of Almighty God. Let people hear the truth. Don’t let the lie go unopposed and not addressed.
